The Central Election Committee Meeting (CEC) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took place on Thursday at the party's Delhi headquarters.
1. Those in attendance included Chief Ministers, State Presidents, In-charges, Co-Incharges, and Election In-charges from several states, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, the National President of the BJP, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Organization General Secretary BL Santosh. Chief Ministers from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Assam, Uttarakhand, and Goa were also present during the conference.
2. Other participants in the talks included BJP leader Prahlad Patel, State President VD Sharma, and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Notably, discussions took place over the choices of candidates for each of Madhya Pradesh's 29 seats.
3. According to sources cited by ANI, the names of four to five Telangana aspirants may be revealed shortly. Additionally, G Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Arvind Dharmapuri—three sitting MPs—may receive tickets once more. Candidate selection was discussed during the meeting with Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. In addition, BJP leaders from Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Gujarat, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand were consulted for candidate names.
4. ANI stated that BJP sources claimed that during the conference, which resulted in the filling of all Lok Sabha seats with Assamese leaders, the names of candidates from the state were discussed. State Minister Rameshwar Teli may be sent to the Rajya Sabha, while Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal may run from Dibrugarh among the eleven seats that the BJP will vie for.
5. Discussions regarding candidates for the Jammu seats were also held during the meeting; discussions regarding Kashmir would happen at the following meeting. Additionally, throughout the meeting, discussions focused on two to three seats in Delhi, with plans to expand on these topics in later rounds. Decisions regarding another Goa seat are still waiting, despite the confirmation of nominees for one of the seats.
'Crossing 400' is the new slogan that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced for the approaching Lok-Sabha-elections-2024. The goal of the BJP is to independently win more than 370 seats.
