14 months after escaping a potentially fatal vehicle accident, Rishabh Pant, a batsman and wicketkeeper from New Delhi, will soon return to the field, but in the interim, he is "nervous" as a rookie again.
The BCCI on Tuesday gave Pant permission to participate in the IPL. On March 23, his club, the Delhi Capitals, will play the Punjab Kings in Mohali to begin the IPL season. While traveling to his Roorkee residence in December 2022, he was involved in a horrible car accident. His right knee required ligament reconstructive surgery as a result of his numerous injuries. In addition, he was left to care for an ankle and wrist injury.
"I feel both anxious and excited at the same time. "It feels like I'm going to make my debut again," Pant stated in a press statement from the Delhi Capitals.
After the accident, the 26-year-old undertook a protracted rehabilitation and recovery procedure at the National Cricket Academy.
It's nothing short of a miracle that I can play cricket again after all that's happened to me. I'm appreciative to all of my supporters and well-wishers, but especially of the BCCI and NCA personnel. Everybody I still get so much strength from their love and support," Pant added.
