On World Forestry Day in 2024, forests will play a major role in our daily lives. Forests are essential to every aspect of our existence, from the books we read to the oxygen we breathe to the homes we construct. In addition to binding soil, they aid in water retention, support the global environment, and—above all—provide us with the oxygen we require to survive. Additionally, the best place to find medicinal plants that can treat a wide range of illnesses is in forests. In other words, woods and trees are essential to human existence.
But as a result of overcrowding, industrialization, and time, we have irresponsibly destroyed forests and chopped down trees for our own gain. This has led to an increase in global temperatures and the depletion of resources. It is time to accept that this planet is our home and that there isn't another one for us to go to.Every year, people commemorate World Forestry Day to raise awareness of the value of forests and trees in our daily lives. Here are some things to keep in mind as we prepare to celebrate this year's special day.
Date: March 21st is World Forestry Day each year. The big day falls on a Thursday this year.
History:
The European Confederation of Agriculture's General Assembly suggested in 1971 that we observe a day honoring trees. The UN designated March 21 as World Forestry Day since it falls on in the northern and southern hemispheres, with the Vernal and Autumn Equinoxes.
