Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, is running for the Lok Sabha from Kerala's Wayanad seat for a second time. With a majority of more than four lakh votes, Rahul Gandhi won Wayanad in the most recent general elections held in 2019. This set a record for the state's greatest majority ever. A record was also set by Muslim League competitor PK Kunhalikutty during his mountain competition.
Thushar Vellapalli of BDJS ran for NDA as well. In the constituency where 10,87,783 persons cast ballots, an 80.37% voting percentage was noted. Rahul Gandhi was declared the winner with a majority of 4,31,770 votes. With his win in Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi secured the largest majority in the Lok Sabha in Kerala's electoral history.
Up till 2019, Ahmed, the leader of the Muslim League, was the Keralan with the largest majority. His last victory was on the Rahul wave in Wayanad. With a majority of 1,94,739 lakh votes, Ahmed won in 2014, setting a record. In Kerala, the 2019 Lok Sabha elections set yet another milestone.

With a majority of 1,71,023 votes, Kunhalikutty Vennikoti won the 2017 Malappuram by-election. However, Kunhalikutty broke its own record in the 2019 general elections, coming in second with 2,60,153 votes.
