 Nationwide, anticipation for the 18th Lok Sabha elections is growing. The heat of the elections has reached Kerala because of the flurry of political campaigns. After a five-year break, voters are also getting ready to take part in the elections that will determine the destiny of the nation. Meanwhile, the Election Commission released the final voter list in January as part of the process to get ready for the next Lok Sabha elections.

96.88 crore voters have registered with the Election Commission in order to record their right to vote for the Lok Sabha elections of 2024. There are 2.70 crore voters in the state overall. 5.75 lakh of these are first-time voters. 3.75 lakh voters have been removed from the 2019 voter list by the Election Commission for a variety of reasons.

Importance of voter list?

This is the list of consenters who have completed the prescribed basic checks and have been approved by the Election Commission. The voter list is essential for the smooth completion of the election process in the prescribed manner. The voter list helps to supervise the election activities and conduct polls properly by avoiding frauds. Any citizen who has completed 18 years of age has the right to be included in the electoral roll.

How to check if a name exists?


Whether your name is included in the final voter list can be checked online through the website of the Chief Electoral Officer (www.ceo.kerala.gov.in). If you have already obtained a voter ID card, you can check whether your name is included in this list by using the EPIC number and mobile number through the Election Commission's website (https://voters.eci.gov.in/).

Similarly, the public can check whether the name is in the voter list through the local bodies, taluk, village, booth level officers (BLOs).

The final voter list is also available free of charge for recognized political parties. Meanwhile, the Election Commission can remove one's name from the voter list for four reasons such as death of the voter, false personal information, incorrect details, change of address/moving from the given address.
